We all have had a special time. Corona has had a major impact on all of us. Not only personally, but also within our education system. This applies to our students and teachers/employees. We’ve been out of our system for a long time. This has done something to us. You can see this in the behavior of students, but also in ourselves.
Teachers from Landstede were allowed to attend a lecture by Prof. dr. Margriet Sitskoorn. Margriet is professor of clinical neuropsychology. She knows better than anyone how to connect her knowledge about our brainsystem with education.
During this lecture, Margriet gave us an insight into how our brains work. The effects of uncertain times and change (such as during the corona time) on our thinking, feeling and doing. She showed us why we have all changed, how we see this reflected in our behavior and what we need to develop well and rebuild energy for the future.
Very recent scientific research provides us with information about the 2nd wave of neuroplasticity, in which you make new cells during puberty, the connectors. As a result, rewiring takes place in the prefrontal cerebral cortex of adolescents in adolescents.
Great to gain insight into how our brains and those of puberswork. This way we can understand them even better and help prevent drop outs.
